Book Proposals
Open Heritage Press welcomes scholarly book projects aligned with its academic and heritage mission. A proposal is the starting point for determining editorial fit and preparing a project for academic evaluation.
Before Submission
Authors should prepare a brief proposal presenting the project’s purpose, scope, scholarly contribution, intended readership, authorship or editorship, and the current status of the manuscript.
Submit Your Proposal
Proposals should be submitted to editorial@mayaheritage.org for initial consideration by Open Heritage Press.
Initial Editorial Review
OHP conducts an initial editorial assessment of each proposal to determine its relevance to the Press’s publishing mission, scholarly character, scope, and readiness for further consideration. This preliminary review does not constitute acceptance for publication.
Editorial Decision and Next Step
Following the initial review, OHP will inform the author or editor whether the project is suitable to proceed. Proposals considered appropriate may be invited to submit the complete manuscript and enter the editorial workflow, including external academic peer review where applicable. Projects that do not fit the Press’s editorial scope or requirements will not proceed to this stage.
